Frequently asked questions
How do I know therapy is right for me?
If you’re ready to make meaningful changes, gain deeper insight into your life, and begin a healing process, therapy can be a supportive space to do so with the guidance of a trained professional. If you are able to commit to attending regular sessions and are open to integrating new perspectives and healthier habits, therapy can be a valuable step. Therapy is also an excellent resource if you're seeking additional support in navigating challenges or pursuing personal growth.
If you have any questions or concerns, I invite you to schedule a free 15-minute consultation to explore how therapy can best serve you.
How often do we meet and how long does therapy typically last?
Typically, sessions are held once a week, but the frequency can be tailored to your individual needs and goals. Each session lasts 45 minutes, aligning with research suggesting that this duration supports optimal focus and engagement.
The length of therapy varies based on your unique circumstances and objectives. My goal is to empower you with the tools and insights needed to function at your best, ideally reaching a point where ongoing therapy is no longer necessary. However, many clients find value in periodic check-ins to sustain their progress. Ultimately, the structure and duration of therapy are customized to align with your personal preferences and needs.
If you have further questions or would like to discuss how therapy can be tailored to you, I invite you to schedule a free 15-minute consultation.
Where do we meet?
We will meet virtually via software provided through our therapy portal. You will be sent the personalized link prior to meeting. If possible, I encourage clients to find a space where they have complete privacy and feel comfortable/safe to attend therapy. (And highly encourage your pets to be in the room—they can provide emotional support and I won’t mind seeing them either!)
What are your fees, and do you accept insurance?
My fees are listed on the services page for your convenience. I believe in full transparency regarding the costs of therapy, so you can easily review them and determine what works best for your needs.
Regarding insurance, I do not directly accept insurance, but there are several benefits to this approach. By not using insurance, you have greater privacy and control over your therapy process. It allows us to focus on what’s most important to you without the restrictions that insurance companies sometimes impose on treatment plans.
However, I can provide superbills (a detailed receipt) that you can submit to your insurance for reimbursement. Additionally, I use a platform that can help you navigate and utilize your out-of-network benefits, ensuring you can maximize any potential reimbursement.
Do you offer reduced-fee options?
Yes, I offer a limited number of reduced-fee spots for individuals in helping professions, including teachers, nurses, first responders, and police officers. These sessions are offered at a reduced rate of $75 per session.
If you’re interested and think you may qualify, please feel free to reach out and ask if I have availability in these spots. I want to be a resource to those who dedicate their lives to helping others!
Can I use my Health Savings Account (HSA) or Flexible Spending Account (FSA) for therapy?
Yes, you can use your Health Savings Account (HSA) or Flexible Spending Account (FSA) to pay for therapy sessions. Many clients find this a convenient way to utilize pre-tax funds for mental health services. If you need documentation for your records, I can provide a superbill that includes all the necessary details for your HSA or FSA reimbursement. Let me know if you need assistance with this process!
